In My Room, Collection of my Model Racing Cars, gelatin silver print

There is a spectator in me who watches, with no concern for specfic events, without knowing if what is happening is serious, sad, important, funny, or not. A breed of extraterrestrial, who has come to Earth simply to enjoy the show. A spectator for whom everything is puppetry, even -- and especially -- me!

Jacques Henri Lartigue

Rouzat, Dé Dé, Lartigue's cousin, diving with water wing, gelatin silver print

Lartigue was a young boy, just six years old, when he received his first camera. It was the first amateur camera (known as the "brownie" camera) developed and distributed by George Eastman, founder of Kodak. Lartigue photography is well-known, and most of his known works were taken before he even turned twenty. I am particularly fond of these two photographs above because they show both a child's world and spontaneity, respectively. The first photograph is one of my favorite photographs of all time.
