battlestar galactica love

I'm a tad bit embarrassed to admit this, but... I have a slight obsession with the Sci-Fi series Battlestar Galactica. I'm embarrassed because my mother loves sci-fi (namely bad sci-fi), and I always ridicule her for it. The bad costumes. The unrealistic plots. The ridiculous characters. But Battlestar is a cross between Orwell and Lucas. What would happen if humanity was obliterated in the future, and only 40,000 humans survived? How would we conduct the new world? There would still be racism and a division of social classes. Affairs would still take place, and so would murder. It's a very realistic take on our own possible future...
